| Maritime Memories, as a concept, seeks to bring back memories of when passenger liners plied across the oceans of the world, especially those of the British Merchant Marine. Famous British shipping lines were, for example, : Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P and O), New Zealand Shipping Company, British India Steam Navigation Company (BISN), Cunard White Star Line, Shaw Savill and Albion Line, Union Steamship Company of New Zealand, Australasian United Steam Navigation Company (AUSN) , Canadian Pacific, Orient Line etc. Most of the passengers were either ex-sea staff or shore staff and were from many shipping companies. Small house flags were made to represent the lines that individual passengers had been involved with, and these were placed on the dining tables during the special dinners that were held during the voyage. These dinners were representations of the menus of shipping companies long gone and were very much a nostalgia trip. All good fun. | ||
